China’s Global Reach: Surveillance and Censorship Beyond the Great Firewall

This article describes the ways China is able to influence Internet censorship not just domestically but also worldwide. China is able to use insecure HTTP connections within the country to get Chinese Internet users to sent traffic to websites outside the country (called "The Great Cannon"), target international malware campaigns, and censor Chinese apps abroad. China is also able to put economic pressure on international companies with large markets in China.
