This article discusses some of the challenges in moving towards cloud computing as a service. One issue mentioned is privacy and regulatory compliance--if the cloud service employed follows data privacy regulations then it can be a huge asset, but if not, a huge pain. "Data residency"--i.e. the physical location of data on a machine--can also be a challenge, as certain countrys' data privacy laws mandate that data says on servers in their country.
