In this documentary video, the life of monks at the New Melleray Abbey is explored. At this monastery outside of Dubuque, Iowa, monks of the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance, or "Trappists," observe a rigidly structured day of silence and contemplation of the mystery of the Catholic god, all for one purpose: "to glimpse the ultimate meaning of life, union with God."
