Reddit Troll Ban Helped Cut Hateful Speech

This article discusses the results of a quasi-experiment on the effect of hate speech on Reddit after the banning of two subreddits full of offensive speech. The researchers found that after the banning of these two subreddits, many people either closed their accounts or toned down their language in posts on other subreddits. However, this only solved the problem for Reddit, and there is suspicion that the hate speech formerly present on the two subreddits may have moved to "darker" parts of the Internet.
