This article describes an online sex trafficking bill passed by the Senate in 2018. The bill, called the Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act (FOSTA), but also referred to as SESTA, amends Section 230 to give an exception for sex trafficking, such that online platforms have legal liability for any content that was produced with a connection to sex trafficking.
