Synthetic Media: How deepfakes could soon change our world

This article discusses deepfakes. Deepfakes are audio and video recordings that appear to be real, but actually use artificial intelligence to  create hyper-realistic fake content. The article discusses the many negative and positive uses of deepfakes today. Negative uses include in spreading disinformation or political propaganda and for pornography, and positive uses include for entertainment and possibly even in the future workplace. The article concludes with a discussion of the ethical issues surrounding deepfakes.
