In this article, the author describes an experience he had as a young coder where his job required him to build a website that misleadingly encouraged young girls to take a particular medical drug no matter their symptoms. The author quickly found out that the main side effects of the drug were depression and suicidal thoughts when the story of a young woman who took the drug and committed suicide hit the news. Having had this experience in his career, the author calls for developers to have a greater awareness of the ethical implications of the code they write.
