This article describes the video footage from an Uber-owned autonomous vehicle that hit and killed a pedestrian. From the video it is evidenced that the woman who was hit should not have been a difficult target for the vehicle to detect. This realization leads to two further questions: how did the vehicle's sensors or software not detect the woman, and how could the safety driver have been better trained to have stopped the vehicle in this situation?
