This article describes how facial recognition technology was used to identify people who participated in the January 6, 2021 attacks on the US Capitol. The article explains that even though facial recognition technologies are improving, they are still prone to error and pose privacy concerns. However, after being used to identify the Capitol attackers, these technologies may grow in enthusiasm.
