This article outlines the risks of facial recognition technology. The authors outline three arguments that those against facial recognition technology must have a satisfying response to: the benefits of the technology outweigh the harms, strong fears about new technologies are overreactions, and that privacy and civil liberties are best protected by creating rules that apply to all forms of surveillance, not just one particular technology.
