A Prehistory of Social Media

This article provides an introduction to the birth of social media by providing a "prehistory" of the internet itself. The article focuses on recovering the history of the modem world to imagine the technology environment we find ourselves in today by discussing precursors to the internet such as bulletin board systems (BBS).
